Data released by the Texas Workforce Commission indicates that upstream oil and natural gas employment grew in August by 2,600 jobs from July. July’s gains were revised down to a still-solid 3,100 jobs added.
AUSTIN — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s recently released tax collections data indicates production taxes paid by the oil and natural gas industry to the State of Texas broke $10 billion for the first time in history — an incredible $10.83 billion for FY 2022.
“We appreciate the work and effort of the State Energy Plan Advisory Committee but the 7-5 vote demonstrates more deliberation and research are needed. The report failed to look at the energy needs for Texas broadly and seemed to be more narrowly focused on the failures of Winter Storm Uri.
“Senate Bill 3, passed by the 87th Legislature, strengthened the electricity grid and the natural gas supply chain.
In a recent The Center Square article, TXOGA president Todd Staples emphasized the importance of recognizing the progress the Texas oil and natural gas industry is making in reducing emissions and improving environmental performance, especially in light of the federal government’s recent actions to aggressively develop new and burdensome regulations that would negatively impact the oil and natural gas that is produced in the Permian.
