TXOGA Lone Star Energy Forum Features 66th U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Governor Greg Abbott

FRISCO – 66th U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Texas Governor Greg Abbott today headlined the Texas Oil & Gas Association’s (TXOGA) Lone Star Energy Forum at the OMNI PGA Frisco. The Forum showcased the global leadership of the Texas oil and natural gas industry that is directly contributing to a cleaner, stronger, better energy future for our state, nation and world.

“Texas would not be Texas without the oil and gas sector,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “The energy industry is the lifeblood of what happens in our economy every single day. The oil and gas industry powers the Texas economy, and it’s one of the reasons why we are the eighth largest economy in the entire world. Texas also provides national security to the United States of America because of the role that oil and gas play for the Texas and American economies. We all have an obligation to be guardians of our national security, to protect our country, and one of the pathways to achieving that goal is to support the energy sector in the state of Texas.”

“The world is experiencing what Texans have known for a long time: Energy security is a necessity, not a luxury. In Texas, our unmatched energy production, transportation, refining capacity and exports advance jobs at home, and energy security for our nation and trade allies every day,” said TXOGA President Todd Staples. “I am honored to convene the Lone Star Energy Forum to showcase the innovation, infrastructure investment and policy leadership that is strengthening economies, protecting the environment and powering the world.”

This year’s Forum began with the presentation of TXOGA’s 89th Distinguished Service Awards to John Christmann, Chief Executive Officer of Apache Corporation, and Mike Wirth, Chief Executive Officer of Chevron.

“The Distinguished Service Award is one of the oldest and most prestigious honors bestowed on members of our industry,” said Trevor Rees-Jones, Chairman of Chief Oil & Gas and Chairman of the Distinguished Service Award Committee. “Since 1936, the awardees have been chosen by industry leaders for their extraordinary contributions to the oil and natural gas industry and to the nation. We are proud to add John Christmann and Mike Wirth to these ranks.”

Forum guests enjoyed two illuminating and timely fireside chats featuring former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, moderated by Staples and another with Texas Governor Greg Abbott, moderated by Ryder Booth, Vice President of the Mid-Continent Business Unit, Chevron.

Other featured speakers included TXOGA Chief Economist Dean Foreman, Ph.D., who discussed “Navigating Growth and Challenges in 2025 and Beyond” and expert panel discussions including “A New Administration & Mexico’s Energy Industry,” moderated by Antonio Garza, Former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, featuring Carlos Garcia, Senior Vice President of Latin America Commercial Operations at Valero and Francisco de Rosenzweig, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of the Economy for Mexico; and “Lone Star Leadership: Navigating the 89th Legislative Landscape,” featuring Texas Senators Bryan Hughes, Charles Perry and César Blanco moderated by Kari Gibson, Manager of State Government Affairs for the Lower 48 State Region for ConocoPhillips.
