TXOGA Applauds Railroad Commission’s Rigorous Framework for Flaring Exceptions

September 8, 2020

AUSTIN – On Friday, the Texas Methane & Flaring Coalition and the Blue Ribbon Task Force, two groups comprised of Texas oil and natural gas operators and trade associations, filed comments with the Railroad Commission of Texas on its proposed amendments to the Application for Exception to Statewide Rule 32. The Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) is a member of both groups. TXOGA President Todd Staples issued the following statement:

“Many companies in the Texas oil and natural gas industry are continuing to take decisive actions to achieve the goal of ending routine flaring. We commend the Railroad Commission of Texas for their leadership and focus on this issue. The collection of more data and a rigorous framework on granting exceptions are key aspects for industry and regulators to work together to further reduce flaring.”
