SAN ANTONIO- The Energy Summit in San Antonio today showcased the economic impact in San Antonio and the surrounding Bexar County area, made possible by oil and natural gas activity. The Summit was hosted by Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) and the South Texas Energy & Economic Roundtable (STEER).

Valero Chairman, President and CEO Joe Gorder, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar, Marathon Oil Vice President of Resource Plays South Todd Abbott, State Senator Donna Campbell, State Representative Lyle Larson, TXOGA President Todd Staples and STEER President Omar Garcia addressed the impact of the various sectors of the oil and natural gas industry to the Bexar County regional economy.

“The oil and natural gas industry in South Texas is securing our state’s economy, environment and future,” said Staples. “With production, pipelines, refining and ports all working together, oil and natural gas is a significant driver in Bexar County investment, job growth and in powering this community.”

“For nearly 40 years, Valero has contributed to the success of our state. The products we safely and responsibly manufacture and distribute throughout Texas and across the world make modern life possible. We are proud our industry has been a key driver of growth and prosperity in the state of Texas, as well as providing support for our communities. We are optimistic the oil and gas sector will continue to play a pivotal role in our future,” said Gorder.

“We recognize that it’s a privilege to do business in South Texas. We value this partnership, and we thank you for allowing us to continue our work and investment in your communities,” said Abbott.

“The oil and natural gas industry is one of our region’s most fundamental economic drivers, and it is our mission to ensure that the development of the Eagle Ford’s energy resources is accomplished in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the industry and communities throughout South Texas,” said Garcia.
