
AUSTIN, Texas—Today, Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) President Todd Staples, a member of the Texas Jobs Council, joined Governor Greg Abbott and fellow Texas Jobs Council members for a meeting in Austin focused on ongoing efforts to continue building up Texas’ workforce.
“Governor Greg Abbott understands the best solution to poverty is a job. The men and women in our workforce are the keys to today’s and tomorrow’s success. Governor Abbott and his Texas Jobs Council are working to create opportunities for Texas students that match our economy’s workforce needs. I appreciate the Governor’s leadership and the thoughtful input from such a broad group of Texans serving on the Governor’s Jobs Council,” said TXOGA President Todd Staples.

Founded in March 2026, the Texas Jobs Council is an advisory board focused on Texas’ workforce development initiatives and ensuring Texans are prepared to fill the state’s growing number of high-demand jobs.
During today’s meeting, Governor Abbott highlighted Texas’ standing as the number one state for new jobs, business expansion, and business climate.
The Governor also noted the Texas Jobs Council’s early recommendations to open clearer pathways into high-demand jobs, give Texas students earlier exposure to career training, and strengthen workforce readiness.
These and other recommendations will be part of the Council’s final report ahead of the 90th Texas legislative session.
Founded in 1919, TXOGA is the oldest and largest oil and natural gas trade association in Texas, representing every facet of the industry.
