ARLINGTON – The Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) and the North Texas Commission today hosted an Energy Summit in Arlington, which showcased the economic impact of the oil and natural gas industry in North Texas.

“The shale revolution that transformed our state and nation into energy superpowers began right here in North Texas,” said Texas State Senator Kelly Hancock.  “Today, the United States is more energy secure than ever before, and we can be proud that North Texans’ innovation and determination quite literally changed the world’s energy landscape.”

“The conservation and responsible development of our water in Texas is of utmost importance, and the continued collaboration with the Texas oil and natural gas industry ensures the viability of our state’s natural resources, health, and economic development is maintained,” said Texas Water Development Board Director Kathleen Jackson.

“The men and women of the oil and natural gas industry in North Texas are securing the region’s economy, environment and future,” said Todd Staples, president of TXOGA. “Continued oil and natural gas production here will play an important role, not only in creating local jobs and investment, but also in anchoring our state’s position as a global energy leader.”

In addition to Senator Hancock, Director Jackson and Commissioner Staples, featured speakers at the Energy Summit included Railroad Commission of Texas State Seismologist Dr. Aaron Velasco, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Director of Air Quality Division Donna Huff, XTO Energy Public & Government Affairs Manager Bob Manthei, Energy Transfer Vice President for Government Affairs Grant Ruckel, and Cheniere Director of Government & Public Affairs Matt Barr.
