RELEASE – TXOGA Testifies on TAMEST Shale Task Force Report for House Energy Resources Committee

July 27, 2017

The following can be attributed to Todd Staples, president of the Texas Oil & Gas Association. Today Mr. Staples testified in front of the Texas House Energy Committee on the TAMEST Shale Task Force report, the TAMEST Shale Task Force report, Environmental and Community Impacts of Shale Development in Texas.

“The study highlights the positive economic benefits of fracking and, very importantly, confirms that fracking is being done in a safe, environmentally responsible way that benefits every single Texan. The study does identify some data gaps and areas for additional research, and the industry agrees wholeheartedly additional research would be beneficial and recognizes many of these areas are being addressed by state and federal regulations, the industry itself, or both. Taken as a whole, the study paints a positive picture of oil and natural gas operations in Texas. The study confirms: you can both protect the environment and grow our economy while producing reliable and affordable energy right here in Texas.”
