Approximately one hundred fifty industry leaders heard former New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani, as he completed the program of speakers at the 2004 Joint meeting of TXOGA’s Lone Star Forum and the Texas Oil & Gas Pac.The meeting was held on October 10-11 at the Four Seasons Resort and Club – Las Colinas, Dallas, and was the first joint gathering of the two entities.
The meeting began on Sunday, October 10, with an afternoon of golf and relaxation. The Texas Oil & Gas Pac held its dinner that evening with top elected officials serving as guests.In attendance were Agriculture Commissioner Susan Coombs; Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson; Railroad Commission Chairman Victor Carrillo;Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams; and Attorney General Greg Abbott.
Monday morning’s events began with breakfast highlighted by a moving address on international affairs by Dr. John G. Stoessinger, distinguished professor of Global Diplomacy at the University of San Diego.
The program continued with the General Session where attendees heard from Speaker of the Texas House Tom Craddick; U. S. Representative Joe L. Barton, (R-TX), chairman of the House Committee on Energy & Commerce; Railroad Commission Chairman Victor Carrillo and US Oil & Gas Association President Wayne Gibbens.
Lt. Governor David Dewhurst also addressed the attendees at the luncheon, making his own remarks and introducing Mayor Giuliani.
A Legislative Planning Meeting open to all attendees was Monday afternoon’s event (See Legislative Section below.) The program was concluded with a joint dinner attended by representatives from TXOGA and the Texas Chemical Council.
TXOGA Dallas members Forrest Hoglund of Hoglund Interests and Albert Huddleston of Hyperion Energy, LP, served as chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of a General Arrangements Committee comprised of North Central Texas area TXOGA members.
The 2005 meeting will also be held at the Four Seasons Resort on October 9 – 10.
