Relating to the prosecution of certain offenses that involve carrying weapons on a person's property or in a person's vehicle.

 

TXOGA Comments on HB 1815

(Take a gun to work)

Amends the Penal Code to provide that it is not a crime for a personnot otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a handgun to possess a handgun if the person is:

  • on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control (including a recreational vehicle being used as living quarters); or

  • inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the person's control, and the handgun is not in plain view.
